Apple is rumoured to increase the prices of its iPhone 17 lineup just a month before the expected launch of the iPhone 18 Pro.
According to a post on Weibo, tipster Fixed Focus Digital claimed there are rumours that Apple could raise iPhone 17 prices, with the increase reportedly expected to take effect on August 10.
The tipster, however, expressed some uncertainty about the price hike. The post also claimed that Apple had shelved plans to increase production capacity on certain manufacturing lines from 15% to 30%.
Apple had already increased the prices of MacBook and iPad models in India in June by 20% to 42%, largely due to rising memory chip costs. However, the company left the prices of the iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods and other accessories unchanged.
The price of the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip was increased to ₹2,99,900 from its launch price of ₹2,49,900. The 13-inch iPad Air also saw a significant price increase, with the base model rising by 41.22% from ₹84,900 to ₹1,19,900.
Currently, the iPhone 17e starts at ₹64,900, the iPhone 17 at ₹82,900, the iPhone 17 Pro at ₹1,34,900, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max at ₹1,49,900. If Apple goes ahead with the reported price hike, it remains to be seen whether the increase will apply to select models or the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its first foldable iPhone at its September launch event. The company is not expected to launch the standard iPhone 18 this year, with the base model reportedly scheduled to debut alongside the iPhone 18e in March 2027.
