Apple Rejects Elon Musk’s Claims Of App Store Bias Toward OpenAI’s ChatGPT

Tech giant Apple has dismissed billionaire Elon Musk’s accusations that its App Store favors OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
“We feature thousands of apps through charts, algorithmic recommendations and curated lists selected by experts using objective criteria,” the BBC quoted Apple as saying.
Apple’s response comes after Musk threatened to take legal action against the iPhone maker through his AI company, xAI. Musk claimed that Apple is “behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store.”
In 2024, Apple announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI, enabling the integration of ChatGPT into Siri across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. However, there is no evidence that Apple has favored OpenAI over other AI companies.
AI apps including Perplexity and DeepSeek have previously topped the App Store charts.
