Varun Dhawan in Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘Operation Sindoor’

The ‘surgical strike’ reality is far more unsettling than we were aware of, says filmmaker

Varun Dhawan is reportedly part of Vivek Agnihotri’s new project Operation Sindoor, a cinematic recreation of India’s surgical strike on Pakistan in 2025.

The actor, whose only “serious” films thus far have been Sriram Raghavan’s Badlapur early in his career and now Border 2, apparently wants to focus more on the heavier stuff.

Vivek Agnihotri, whose fiercely political celluloid comments in The Kashmir Files and The Bengal Files have triggered controversies, says of Operation Sindoor, “This is not just a film. It is a revelation. With Operation Sindoor, India has not just taken revenge for the Pahalgam terror attack, but has demonstrated its might in modern warfare.” The filmmaker adds, “We have conducted extensive, ground-level research in collaboration with multiple wings of the Indian Armed Forces to understand not just what happened, but how and why it happened. What emerges is a reality far more complex, far more precise, and far more unsettling than what is available in the public domain.”
