‘Varanasi’ Makers Have a Pre-Release Scheme

In what seems to be a strategy to minimise budgetary expenses, the makers of Varanasi are offering exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews to the public for a price of Rs 199. This not only appears to be a novel strategy to create pre-release excitement, it also looks like a ploy to make quick money by getting fans to pay for what is normally given free.

Under the deal, fans would have access to exclusive pictures of Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prthvi Raj, interviews with the cast and crew, and behind-the-scenes titbits.

If the Varanasi strategy works, more producers will follow this route of milking the core audience which helps promote the film before release.
