Triptii Replaces Deepika in ‘Spirit’
The filmmaker wasted no time in finding a replacement after Deepika suddenly walked out of the project, sending a clear message that he is the final boss

Deepika Padukone’s loss is Triptii Dimri’s gain. Days after Padukone exited Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s Spirit, starring Prabhas, Triptii Dimri has been confirmed as the film’s leading lady.
Taking to Instagram, Triptii expressed her gratitude to the Animal director: “Still sinking in… So grateful to be trusted with this journey. Thank you, Sandeep Vanga Reddy, for trusting me. Honoured to be a part of your vision,” she wrote.
Triptii’s bold performance in Animal marked a turning point in her career, pushing her into the mainstream spotlight. Known for critically acclaimed roles in Laila Majnu, Bulbbul, and Qala, she became one of Bollywood’s most talked-about talents.
“It was Animal that truly escalated Triptii’s career. While her recent films like Bad Newz and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 didn’t quite tap into her full potential, they certainly helped her gain mass commercial appeal,” says a source. “Vanga’s films often portray women in a particular light, which may have made Deepika uncomfortable with the role. Younger actors, however, are often eager to prove themselves and willing to take more risks.”
Vanga has announced that Spirit will be released in nine languages. Sources close to the production say Deepika’s departure stemmed from what were perceived as unreasonable demands, including fixed working hours and additional pay for overtime.
So far, there has been no official statement from Deepika or her team regarding the film or her exit.
