Allu Arjun’s Raaka moves to 2028 as Prabhas’ Fauzi also faces a delay — big-budget makers are choosing content over release dates
Two of Telugu cinema’s biggest pan-India spectacles are hitting the brakes. Allu Arjun’s `800-crore Raaka, directed by Atlee, has been pushed to early 2028. The postponement is confirmed, although there is no official announcement yet. The film was earlier targeting December 2027, but its massive scale, extensive VFX and nearly year-long post-production have forced the makers to rethink the schedule.
January 26, 2028, is reportedly being considered as the new release window. There is an even bigger twist: the decision to split Raaka into two parts is also confirmed. As the story and footage have expanded, the makers have decided that the sprawling time-travel saga needs two films rather than one. Shooting continues on elaborate Mumbai sets.
And now Prabhas’ Fauzi appears to be following a similar path. The Hanu Raghavapudi-directed period war drama, officially scheduled for December 3, 2026, is reportedly being pushed to 2027, with March being considered. A source says the team is rechecking the filmed material and making corrections before locking the final version. “They want to release the film at the appropriate time,” says the source. The reported Fauzi delay is particularly striking because producers Y Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni had recently reaffirmed the December 3 date. Prabhas has reportedly been consulted and is said to be comfortable with the revised window.
What connects Raaka and Fauzi is not merely their enormous budgets or superstar casts. It is a growing reluctance among filmmakers to let an announced date dictate the final product.
