Talk of the Town
A recent profile has pegged her estimated wealth at Rs 216 crore — a figure that has not been independently verified though.

Sania’s second serve
Retirement clearly hasn’t put Sania Mirza on the sidelines. The six-time Grand Slam champion is now making moves in the investment world, co-leading investments with UAE-based Terra-Invest in longevity, preventive health and sports performance. A recent profile has pegged her estimated wealth at Rs 216 crore — a figure that has not been independently verified though. From collecting Grand Slam trophies to making boardroom bets, Sania is serving up a rather interesting second act. All along she has conducted herself with utmost grace — never a bitter word about anybody in her personal journey.
Wedding journey turns into a 4am nightmare
A prominent Banjara Hills businessman, who runs a successful mithai business, had barely driven out of his Road No. 12 residence with his family when masked men reportedly stopped them at around 4am and made off with bags containing valuable jewellery belonging to the women in the family.
The family was on its way to attend a wedding and had apparently packed the jewellery for the occasion. The businessman is said to be deeply shaken and suspects that someone familiar with the family’s movements may have been involved. But there’s a catch: he is reportedly reluctant to approach the police, as much of the jewellery is said to be unaccounted for.
Generosity at its finest
While we keep reading ugly stories about family disputes over wealth, here comes news about a businessman in our city, P, who sold his company at phenomenal valuation and shared it with his extended family as well. Rumour is he gave his brothers Rs 100 crore each and all the 7 children in their family Rs 25 crore each — just like that as pocket money! Isn’t that truly generous! In one shot he made everyone financially secure.
A regal arrival
Falaknuma had a little extra royal sparkle this week. Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Nizari Ismaili Muslims, arrived in Hyderabad on his first official India visit since succeeding his father, Aga Khan IV. His heavily secured motorcade heading towards Taj Falaknuma Palace was enough to set the high-society grapevine quietly humming. A prince, a palace and a discreet itinerary — exactly the sort of combination that gets people talking without anyone actually saying very much.
Bappa gets the bling treatment
This Bappa is anything but understated. Lee-Chee Ka Raja at Leechee Pearls & Jewels in Feelkhana is a 24-carat gold-plated Ganesha reportedly studded with 3,83,800 American diamonds and valued at around `4 crore. Commissioned by Adhar Agarwal, with brothers Anil and Nikitesh Agarwal associated with the celebration, the Panchaloha idol reportedly took eight artisans eight months to complete. Inspired by Lalbaugcha Raja, Bappa clearly came dressed to make a statement.
The Rs 17,000-cr. bet
Sumadhura Group managing director Madhusudhan G is putting some serious numbers behind his expansion plans. The group is looking at around Rs 17,000 crore in investments over the next four years, with 45 million sq ft planned across homes, luxury villas, offices and warehousing. That’s not just an expansion plan; it’s a sizeable statement about the appetite for Hyderabad real estate. With numbers like these, the city’s cranes may need their own traffic management plan.
The new money makers
The new business crowd is making noise — and the usual industrialist surnames aren’t the whole story anymore. Anant Goel is building in fresh produce, Awais Ahmed in space tech, while Darwinbox founders Rohit Chennamaneni, Jayant Paleti and Chaitanya Peddi continue to make waves in HR technology. Veterans BVR Mohan Reddy and Srini Koppolu are backing younger ventures.
Preeti’s handloom moment
Handloom walked onto the SIIMA red carpet. Dr Preeti Reddy, who is all over the media these days, wore a blue-and-silver ensemble, pairing a dramatic blue dupatta and ruched silver drape with layers of traditional jewellery. Proof that handloom, given the right styling, can do red carpet glamour. Preeti is definitely aspiring for a big role in politics, which explains all her moves that are in the spotlight.
