Taapsee Pannu Reunites With Long-Time Collaborator Kanika Dhillon
Action-packed Gandhari sets a new high for her on physical challenges

Gandhari, a thriller about a mother going all-out to protect her daughter, premiers on Netflix on September 3. It reunites writer Kanika Dhillon and Taapsee Pannu, who have collaborated on several films earlier.
Set in a fictitious town named Joypurra, Gandhari is a story of unwavering belief, quiet resilience and unflinching courage. At its heart lies Bani, a mother whose devotion is tested at every turn, compelling her to confront unimaginable challenges with conviction and sacrifice. The film combines a deeply human core with extensive action, making it one of Taapsee’s most physically demanding roles yet.
“Gandhari is my most challenging role to date. It wrenched me from within. The fact that Kanika Dhillon, whom I trust implicitly to write characters that are out of the box, is also a producer on this project, makes me even more excited,” shares the actor.
Taapsee is determined to forge her own path as a shero. Her plan is to choose films with higher and higher stakes, and, on the back of their success, get bigger budgets for subsequent projects, which in turn will have more challenges, making them more exciting for her to perform in, and also for the audience to anticipate and watch.
“I’m hoping to balance my OTT and theatrical presence,” she adds. Gandhari is directed by Devashish Makhija.
