Stars Gravitate Towards Land
‘Bhoomi Sampati’ is the new preferred form of investment for Bollywood celebs

Bollywood stars are aggressively pivoting toward ‘land banking,’ shifting away from traditional luxury city penthouses. High-profile real estate transactions across 2025 and 2026 reveal that India's biggest celebrities are investing multiple crores into large tracts of land for long-term capital appreciation, cultural legacy and private holiday retreats.
These land investments are concentrated in a few strategic areas — specifically emerging spiritual hubs, coastal getaways, and rural areas. Bollywood’s top favourite is Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh (Spiritual Investment Zone). Driven by rapid infrastructure development and the soaring cultural importance of the region, land values around the Ram Mandir have appreciated dramatically.
Amitabh Bachchan emerged as the temple town's biggest celebrity investor, with his total land footprint exceeding Rs 100 crore. In March 2026, he acquired a 2.67-acre premium land parcel for Rs 35 crore near The Sarayu enclave through The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). This followed a Rs 40 crore purchase of 25,000 sq. ft. of adjoining land in 2025.
Speaking on his recent land acquisition Amitabh Bachchan spoke exclusively to this writer. “Bhumi sampati, or land acquisition as you call it, is the biggest, most valuable asset in any man’s life. We, as a family, value the land we acquire.”
Alibaug, Maharashtra (The Seaside Escape), comes a close second. Famously referred to as Mumbai’s Hamptons, Alibaug continues to see massive capital inflow from Bollywood A-listers.
Ranbir Kapoor expanded his land banking footprint by buying 25.7 acres of land in Pimpri Village, Mulshi, for Rs 16.42 crore.
Varun Dhawan announced his acquisition of a sizeable plot of farmland, calling it one of the “biggest achievements” of his life to connect with nature.
