The actress stakes claim to both Karnataka and Maharashtra as she promotes her multilingual film KD — The Devil

Shilpa Shetty, who makes a comeback to Kannada cinema in KD — The Devil, spoke about her role,
On what made her take on the role of Satyavati
I was in a wheelchair after doing action scenes for Rohit Shetty when director Prem came to me with the script. My manager requested me to at least hear the narration, and by the interval, I found the story so interesting that I forgot I was in the wheelchair and stood up saying, Satyavati ko mein hi karungi!’ Satyavati is an ode to my mother.
On her Kannada comeback
I’m making a comeback to Kannada cinema after 18 years, but I always call myself a Karnataka hudugi (girl).
ongoing lang row in Maharashtra
Mala Marathi maahit aahe, mee Maharashtra chi mulgi aahe. But today we are here to talk about KD.
On the outline of KD
It is a retro film. Mujhe bahut bahut maza aya. Good films work only if they have soul and passion, and KD has that.
On reuniting with Sanjay Dutt
He has not changed. We were shooting a sequence in the rain and he was running a 102 degrees temperature. The action scenes had to be shot for 7 days and this man would wear wet clothes every day and give his best. Such is his passion and dedication.
The film also stars Dhruva Sarja and V Ravichandran. The story is reportedly based on events that took place in Bengaluru in the ’70s.
