‘She Pushed Me Beyond Comfort Zone’
Actor Yash credits filmmaker Geetu Mohandas for helping him discover a new side of his acting in Toxic
Women directors remain a rarity in collaborations with A-list stars across Telugu, Tamil and Kannada cinema.
Yash is among the rare Kannada A-listers to have worked with a woman director. The actor opens up about his experience of working with Geetu Mohandas on Toxic, crediting her with pushing him beyond his comfort zone and helping him explore a different side of himself as an actor.
Talking about Geetu, Yash says, “She comes across like she is strict, but she is very, very jovial. The way she creates the atmosphere for everybody on the set, I think she has pushed all of us. Especially for me, she has pushed me, she has made me learn lines in English.” Yash also credits Geetu with helping him evolve as a performer and take on a character unlike anything he has played before. “And the kind of character I have played, the kind of actor I am today, I think I need to really thank Geetu for pushing me as an actor,” he says.
