Sara Arjun Makes T’wood Debut in Gunasekhar’s ‘Euphoria’

The Bollywood actress feels such youth-oriented films are the need of the hour

Producer Neelima Guna, daughter of director Gunasekhar, has cast Bollywood actress Sara Arjun in a significant role in new-age Telugu film Euphoria. Sara, who recently impressed audiences in Dhurandhar, makes her Telugu debut with this youth-centric entertainer.

Explaining the casting, Neelima says she had noticed Sara’s talent even before Dhurandhar.. “We wanted someone soft and tender-looking for our youth-oriented film,” she explains, adding that Sara’s performance in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan left a strong impression. “She was perfect for the role, which demands a 17-year-old girl who embodies innocence.”

Neelima approached Sara’s father, actor Raj Arjun. “Sara was quite choosy and had rejected many offers after Ponniyin Selvan. However, when she heard our story, she was delighted and told her father that films of this kind are the need of the hour.,” she says.

Gunasekhar echoes the praise, calling Sara a “born actor.” “She brings subtle, realistic variations to her performances. I was impressed even when she was a child — especially in a McDonald’s commercial,” he says,

Interestingly, Sara met the makers of Dhurandhar even as the shoot of Euphoria was in progress last year. “She attended a meeting for Dhurandhar while she was shooting for our film. We adjusted our schedule and spared a day for her to meet the team,” Gunasekhar reveals.

Asked if her Tollywood debut proved lucky for her, the director says, “I believe her talent fetched her Dhurandhar. I don’t believe in the luck factor.”
