Rs 30 Cr Crunch Hits Chiru Project; Mohanlal Exits

That the financial crunch in the Telugu film industry is a reality that must be acknowledged has been made clear with another major project hitting a monetary snag, and under rather embarrassing circumstances too.

The makers of the underproduction Chiranjeevi-starrer directed by Bobby had assumed that Mohanlal would do a cameo gratis, after the director, who shares a cordial relationship with the Malayalam star, asked him to do the important piece as a goodwill gesture since he and Chiranjeevi have never been seen together. However, Mohanlal reportedly asked for Rs 30 crore, sending the makers scurrying to a Telugu star to play the part without remuneration.
