Ravi Teja Slammed Over Crass Remark
A nickname for his young co-star has exploded into a social-media row, with netizens calling out the language used on stage

Ravi Teja is facing a wave of criticism after using a deeply offensive Telugu expression for his young Irumudi co-star Nakshathra CM at the film’s pre-release event. Nakshathra had asked him to suggest a nickname when Ravi Teja came up with the phrase; when the child actor admitted she did not know what it meant, he laughed and replied, “I’ll tell you later.” The clip quickly spread across X and Instagram, with viewers questioning what prompted such a remark.
The controversy centres on the meaning of the phrase. “Muduru” can refer to something overripe, hardened or overly mature, while “munda” can be a deeply derogatory term for a woman, although some users have argued that its meaning varies with context. For many critics, however, the context makes the remark particularly jarring: why use such an ugly expression for a child actor at a public event?
INTERNET WASN’T HOLDING BACK
The reaction was swift and furious. “What kind of language is this?” one user posted, while another asked, “What this s**t man? Are you drunk?” Others questioned whether Ravi Teja would have used the same expression for his own daughter and pointed out that Nakshathra herself did not even understand what she had been called. On Reddit, one user wrote that “munda” literally refers to a widow.
