Ranveer Threatens Legal Action if IMPPA Intervenes in ‘Don 3’ Row

Star’s legal team says the film body has no jurisdiction in the matter

Ranveer Singh’s legal team has warned the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) that the star would pursue legal action if the Association passes any resolution against him in relation to his ongoing dispute regarding Don 3.

In a letter submitted to IMPPA, Ranveer’s legal representatives argued that the industry body lacks the jurisdiction to adjudicate the matter and that the dispute should be settled in a court of law.

For context, Excel Entertainment producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had complained to IMPPA, alleging major losses on location scouting, crew, travel and stunt training after Ranveer Singh exited Don 3, seeking Rs 45 crore in damages. Ranveer reportedly walked away from the action thriller following the box office success of his film Dhurandhar, choosing instead to shift focus to other commitments like Pralay.

In its arguments before the IMPPA, Ranveer’s team submitted that no formal agreement was signed with Excel Entertainment, only a preliminary Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was executed and as such, Excel had “no grounds to complain” to the film body.
