Ranbir’s ‘Goodness Will End’ Gaffe Sparks Trolling

The actor accidentally said “ant” (end) instead of “jeet” (victory) while speaking about the triumph of good over evil

After Dil Raju’s oops moment in Hyderabad, when he inadvertently referred to Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Ranbir Singh’, the Bollywood actor found himself at the centre of online trolling following an amusing verbal gaffe at a high-profile Ramayana promotional event in Kolkata on Dussehra.

Addressing the gathering alongside co-star Yash and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Ranbir accidentally turned a celebratory message about the triumph of good over evil on its head. Intending to highlight the triumph of good over evil, Ranbir proclaimed to the audience, “Burai chahe kitni bhi taqatwar kyun naa ho, aakhir mein ant sachchai aur achchai ki hie hogi.”

By using “ant” (end) instead of “jeet” (victory), Ranbir inadvertently suggested that truth and goodness would eventually come to an end.

The verbal slip quickly sparked a wave of memes, jokes and criticism on social media. Many users found the mistake particularly ironic given that Ranbir plays Lord Ram, the embodiment of righteousness, in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Rs 4,000-crore mythological epic Ramayana.

Some netizens joked that the actor had “ended goodness” before the war even began, while others quipped that his statement inadvertently reflected the harsh realities of the world. Some fans even jokingly urged him to stop giving promotional speeches, with one remarking, “Please stop promoting Ramayana.”

Ranbir apologises

Ranbir acknowleded that he had misspoken. Keeping the moment light-hearted, he quoted lyrics from his film Rockstar: “Jo bhi main kehna chahoon, barbaad karein alfaaz mere…” (Whatever I wish to say, my words end up ruining it). He clarified that he never intended to convey a message contrary to the festival’s spirit and expressed regret over the unintended error.
