With the Adipurush backlash still fresh, the Shri Ramlila Mahasangh has called for an advance screening of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic to prevent another controversy
Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One has run into an early hurdle, with the Shri Ramlila Mahasangh demanding a special pre-release screening of the film. The organisation has warned of nationwide protests if its request is ignored.
In a formal letter to the makers, Shri Ramlila Mahasangh president Arjun Kumar sought a preview for representatives of the Mahasangh and various Ramlila committees well before the film’s Diwali 2026 release.
The group says it wants to ensure there are no scenes or dialogues that could hurt religious sentiments.
Arjun Kumar also questioned Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Ram, saying the actor appeared “weak” and lacked the traditional divine bhav based on the film’s promotional material. The organisation further expressed concerns over the visual depiction of sacred elements and urged the makers to remain faithful to religious traditions.
