Prabhas’ ‘The Raja Saab’ Lands in Rs 218-Cr Legal Battle

Delhi-based Ivy Entertainment has dragged Hyderabad’s People Media Factory to the Delhi High Court, seeking refund and accusing its co-producer of delaying the film and breaching multiple contracts

The high-stakes world of Telugu cinema has spilled into the courtroom, with Delhi-based Ivy Entertainment filing a petition in the Delhi High Court against Hyderabad’s People Media Factory (PMF) and its directors.

The dispute centres on the Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab, with Ivy seeking a refund of its massive `218 crore investment plus 18% annual interest, alleging multiple contractual breaches.

According to court filings, Ivy has accused PMF of delaying the film’s production and release, failing to share monthly updates, withholding fund utilisation details, and not delivering agreed-upon materials.

The petition also cites repeated and unexplained postponements of the theatrical release, triggering termination clauses in their agreements.

Ivy claims it acquired worldwide theatrical and non-theatrical rights under two agreements signed in early 2023, along with co-presenter credits and guaranteed returns. The petition also names post-production vendors and seeks an injunction preventing them from exploiting the film’s rights without Ivy’s consent.

Despite the legal battle, Ivy says it plans to complete and release The Raja Saab itself to protect its stake. The horror-comedy is being made on a Rs 400 crore budget.
