Police Trace Aamir Threat Messages to Sweden
The threatening voice note and Facebook posts were allegedly shared by individuals claiming to represent the Lawrence Bishnoi gang
Online threats against actor Aamir Khan, allegedly issued in the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, have been traced to IP addresses in Sweden and Canada, according to Mumbai Police.
According to investigators, the initial internet protocol (IP) address used to send the threats originated in Sweden. The threatening voice note and Facebook posts were issued by individuals identifying themselves as Arzu Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi, who claimed to represent the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The messages targeted the 61-year-old actor following his private marriage to Gauri Spratt on July 5. They accused Khan of promoting “love jihad”, alleged that his actions were against Indian culture and Sanatan Dharma, and warned that he would be “taught a lesson”.
Investigators are conducting a digital forensic probe, but tracking the source remains challenging because the perpetrators allegedly used a Swedish server network along with the Tor onion-routing browser to conceal their identities. While police are examining the digital trail, no FIR has been registered so far.
