Pawan Kalyan Presses Pause on Cinema
Second shoulder surgery and six-to-seven-month rehabilitation push his return to 2027

Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan is set to stay away from film sets for the rest of 2026 as he focuses on recovering from major shoulder surgery and handling his political responsibilities.
The Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister underwent a three-and-a-half-hour surgery on his right shoulder in July to treat a long-standing rotator cuff injury and an avulsion fracture. He is expected to undergo a second surgery on his left shoulder later this year.
With doctors recommending six to seven months of rehabilitation, Pawan’s return to the sets is now likely to happen only in 2027.
The health setback has also thrown his film plans off schedule. OG 2, which was expected to begin shooting in September, has been pushed back. Pawan has meanwhile stopped allocating call sheets and hearing new scripts for OG 2. Back to his ministerial duties in AP, Pawan is using medical support and is expected to prioritise governance over films for the rest of 2026.
For his fans, however, there could still be something to look forward to. Production houses are reportedly planning promotional glimpses and musical updates around his September 2 birthday to keep the Pawan Kalyan buzz alive during his extended break from shooting.
