Param Sundari: Success, Hype or Reality?

Moviedified Bollywood accused Maddock Films of blocking their review, alleging genuine criticism is silenced while paid ratings are promoted

Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s Param Sundari, despite mixed reviews, has reportedly gained momentum. Industry tracker Sacnilk notes the film opened slow but picked up, grossing over Rs 16 crore by Sunday.

Producers pushed glowing reviews, but Moviedified Bollywood alleged Maddock Films buried criticism while promoting paid ones.

Industry insiders note this isn’t new. A source said Param Sundari had weak buzz, with producers inflating sales through bulk bookings that didn’t reflect real occupancy. Actor Divya Khosla had similarly accused Dharma Films of the practice during Jigra’s release last year.

They added that beyond paid reviews, sponsored social media posts are now routine. A digital specialist explained, “Word of mouth today is not always organic — it can be bought.” Meanwhile, a Delhi-based theatre owner observed, “We’ve seen growth in the last 24 hours. Families have been coming in. It’s a clean, feel-good film. Will it sustain? Too early to tell. The actors are good, but the story is familiar, and the writing feels a bit lazy.”
