Pant’s ‘Extra Slice’

Weeks after hobbling through a heroic knock, the cricketer is back—this time serving slices of pizza instead of boundaries

The last glimpse of Rishabh Pant on the cricket field was one of sheer defiance—being carried off with a fractured foot, only to limp back moments later and squeeze out a few more runs. It was courage tinged with heartbreak, a warrior unwilling to surrender.

Weeks later, Pant’s resilience has taken on a lighter avatar—this time in a pizza kitchen. A recently shared video shows the wicketkeeper-batter, now in recovery, tossing dough with the same flair he once dispatched bowlers. His cameo comes on the back of a gritty 54-run stand in the fourth Test, played through injury, that helped India secure a draw.

“Only thing I can do with a broken foot right now is… make pizza,” he quipped, assembling a truffle, basil, and parmesan-topped bianco. With a grin, he added, “My mother must be thinking, ‘He never cooks at home but here he is making pizza’.”

Injury may have paused his cricket, but Pant continues to serve up his trademark mix of grit and charm—proving once again that while form is fleeting, flavour, like class, is permanent
