Mithila Palkar Refused To Darken Her Skin To Play Rural Telangana Girl
Actress holds firm on no skin-tone alteration for Super Subbu role

Mithila Palkar, known for her roles in Bhooth Bangla (Hindi) and Ori Devuda (Telugu), recently revealed she refused to darken her skin by several shades for her Netflix Telugu debut, Super Subbu, where she plays a Telangana village girl.
After twelve years in the industry, Mithila says skin-tone alteration — lightening or darkening — and nudity remain her strict non-negotiables! The makers initially wanted to change her complexion by several shades to match the rural character.
Mithila voiced her discomfort and suggested the filmmakers cast an actor who naturally fit the role rather than artificially darkening her skin. Director Mallik Ram, however, was determined to cast her. The two discussed her concerns and reached a middle ground: test the makeup gradually, starting with a single shade. In the end, her skin tone was only altered slightly.
