Kriti Sanon Faces Flak Over Outfit in Rakhi Ad
GIVA’s ‘Furever Sibling’ ad shows actor tying rakhi to pet dog; trolls call outfit skimpy and concept disrespectful to tradition

Kriti Sanon is facing flak over her newly released Raksha Bandhan advertisement campaign. Netizens have targeted the campaign, questioning her outfit and the focus on her pet dog. The commercial was launched by jewellery brand GIVA to promote its new pet collection.
The ad shows Sanon celebrating the festival with her brother before tying a rakhi to her pet dog. Trolls argued that the ad “ruined and disrespected” the traditional spirit of the festival, claiming the narrative gave more importance to the pet than the brother.
The wardrobe choice in the advertisement also drew criticism. Critics labelled the styling a “skimpy outfit” and questioned if it was appropriate for a traditional festival like Raksha Bandhan. Some even demanded a boycott, accusing the brand and filmmakers of trivialising Indian festivals.
Despite the backlash, many users and pet lovers defended the concept! Supporters argued that pets are considered family members and celebrating them does not diminish cultural traditions. Some pointed to the history of the ‘raksha sutra’ (protective thread) and drew parallels to mythological stories, such as Yudhishthira refusing to enter heaven without his loyal dog, to underline the emotional bond shared with a pet. Kriti Sanon has refrained from commenting on the controversy.
