Keralites Offended by Rajini’s Song
Jailer 2 track faces criticism over linguistic inaccuracies

The Malayalam-themed song “Ala Bolelo” from Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2 has sparked backlash among sections of the Malayali community following its August 2026 release.
Social media users have criticized the song for what they describe as severe mispronunciation of Malayalam words. The vocals, sung and composed by Anirudh Ravichander, have been accused of sounding heavily influenced by Tamil phonetics. Listeners have particularly pointed to the incorrect pronunciation of Malayalam’s distinct “la” sounds, with some calling the lyrics “gibberish” and “irritating” to native speakers.
Many fans have urged Tamil filmmakers to avoid using Malayalam lyrics merely as a novelty unless native singers and lyricists who understand the language are involved.
Despite the linguistic controversy, the song has also received praise from fans who enjoy its high-energy, festive sound. The music video features actress Shamna Kasim dancing in a traditional Kerala Kasavu saree, along with a brief appearance by Rajinikanth
