Keerty Suresh Hopes for Better Roles
Actress admits projects have been scarce since Revolver Rita flop

Keerthy Suresh, last seen in Revolver Rita, says she’s lacked recent success and now wants a role as strong as Mahanati.
As Mahanati turns eight, Keerthy recalled her trepidation at playing the iconic Tamil-Telugu actress Savitri so early in her career. “Of course, I had that fear in me. But I knew I was not doing it like any other character. I used to have a lot of doubts,” she said in an exclusive conversation.
She credited director Nag Ashwin for boosting her confidence. “Nagi was very confident when it came to takes. He knew the subject much better than all of us. When he guides and you see it on the monitor after the shot, you feel, ‘Okay, maybe this is correct.’”
Keerthy called Mahanati a transformative experience. “I had to get reference pictures because Savitri garu used to look different in all her films. If you see her lips, her eyebrows, it’s not the same in every movie. She used to change according to her characters. So we had different kinds of looks. Every day, I used to ask him which look we were doing that day.” Mahanati won Keerthy the National Award for Best Actress!
