Kangana, Manoj Films Lose Screens

Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhaggya Vidhaata has opened to one of the lowest collections this year and arguably the lowest ever for a Ranaut starrer.

The film collected under Rs 1 crore on Day 1 despite some favourable reviews. A ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’ offer on Day 2 failed to lift numbers. This marks Kangana’s fourteenth consecutive flop. Her last hit was Tanu Weds Manu Returns in 2015.

“Kangana ji ki image strong hai. Woh TV aur social media pe chalti hai, cinema mein nahin (She has a strong image that works on TV and social media, not in theatres). Manoj Bajpayee is a success on OTT, not in movie theatres,” said Roshan Singh, a prominent Bihar exhibitor. “Exhibitors have deleted shows of Bharat Bhaggya Vidhaata and Governor.”
