Kamal Haasan, Shankar Resume Work on ‘Indian 3’
It is heading into final post-production now after its sequel’s debacle
Work on Kamal Haasan and director S. Shankar’s Indian 3 has officially resumed. The third part was put on hold after the disappointing box office performance of Indian 2.
However, since a major portion of the third installment was shot simultaneously with the second film, the project is now moving into its final stages. The film does not require extensive new shooting, with only minor patchwork left.
A substantial amount of VFX work is still pending. Sources reveal that Shankar might spend an additional budget on reshoots to fix the narrative issues that plagued Indian 2. Kamal Haasan returns as Senapathy — a mix of historical prequel and present-day sequel to Indian 2 — also starring Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth and S.J. Suryah. While the makers have restarted post-production in Chennai, an official theatrical release date is yet to be announced.
