Jo Held My Hand Through Every Failure: Suriya

The actor says Jyotika’s constant support and guidance helped him navigate the highs and lows of his 30-year care

At the audio launch of his Diwali release Scene, actor Suriya spoke about the importance of inner peace, good health and his wife Jyotika’s constant support.

Reflecting on entering his 50s, the actor shared a mature and grounded perspective on what truly matters to him now. “My primary focus has shifted away from superficial milestones towards simply achieving inner peace and good health.”

Suriya credited his wife, Jyotika, for her constant support, saying it was vital to his inner peace and ability to bounce back from failures.

“I couldn’t choose my parents or my brother and sister because I was born into that family, and I am with them. But choosing a life partner was uniquely meaningful. If I am standing here, if everything in my life is going well, if I am able to do everything properly, it’s because I have been constantly guided by my pondaatti (an affectionate reference to his wife). I have made many mistakes and fallen multiple times throughout my 30-year career, but having someone like Jyotika to hold my hand and guide me through the chaos was crucial to my well-being and ultimate success,” he said.

Thanking her for being a part of his life, he added, “Jo is my best mother, best friend, strong actor, and an equally strong life partner.”

Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan, is an action-comedy film that also marks Nazriya Nazim’s return to Tamil cinema after a 12-year hiatus. It will hit theatres on November 6.
