Jeetendra’s Rs 4.25 Lakh ‘Unlucky’ Bungalow Now Worth Rs 450 Crore

The Pali Hill house he left after four flops turned into the veteran star’s biggest fortune!

For Jeetendra buying a bungalow in upscale Pali Hill soon turned into anxiety when the actor came to feel the house had brought him a run ofmisfortune. Speaking to The Reality Drive, Jeetendra revisited the story of his old bungalow which was once owned by legendary actor Bharat Bhushan. He admitted he moved out after coming to believe the house was unlucky. Ironically, that same property is now one ofhis most valuable assets. Jeetendra shared that Bharat Bhushan, facing money troubles, offered to sell him his Pali Hill bungalow. “I used to live with eight people in a 20×10 chawl room in Girgaum,” Jeetendra told.

“We were lower-middle-class. When this huge star from Baiju Bawramade the offer, my father said we should go for it. For me, buying a bungalow was a big deal.” The actor said he purchased the bungalow for Rs 4.25 lakh, which included a 3,450 sq ft plot, a deal that seems impossible today. But the high of buying it didn’t last. After moving in, four of his films flopped, leaving him convinced the house was unlucky. “We shifted there and suddenly four films failed. I told my father, ‘Bharat Bhushan left this place, now it’s my turn. If this goes on, my career will be over.’ He agreed and we moved out.” Jeetendra eventually redeveloped the bungalow.

The returns surprised him before a single brick was laid. “Once it was demolished, I got Rs 11.5 lakh just for the Burma teak,” he recalled. “I’d paid Rs 4.25 lakh for the entire bungalow. The wood alone gave me back nearly three times that.” Summing up the bungalow’s journey, Jeetendra revealed: “The land alone where the building stands is now worth nearly Rs 450 crore.”
