Janhvi Kapoor In Talks For ‘Chaalbaaz’ Sequel
Will she step into her mom Sridevi’s shoes?

Janhvi Kapoor might soon reprise one of her mother Sridevi’s most iconic roles — her comic timing and striking resemblance to the late actress have made her the frontrunner for the much-awaited sequel to Chaalbaaz.
For Janhvi, the project is far more than just another film, it’s an emotion. Sources say she has shown keen interest in playing the lead in the sequel, but is also proceeding with caution, given the inevitability of comparisons with her legendary mother. “She is taking the opinions of people around her before making a decision. She is excited but also wary. A final call is expected by the end of September,” says a source.
The 1989 classic Chaalbaaz featured Sridevi in a double role as twin sisters Anju and Manju, alongside Sunny Deol and Rajinikanth. Over the years, the sequel has been in and out of the news. In fact, Shraddha Kapoor was once finalised for the project, and in 2020 she had admitted feeling nervous yet honoured to step into Sridevi’s shoes. However, with no momentum, the film was eventually shelved.
Now, with producers eager to revive the idea, Janhvi is being seen as the most fitting choice. “Sridevi was the ultimate pan-Indian superstar, impossible to emulate. But for now, her daughter seems the right choice to carry forward the legacy,” adds the insider
