Is ‘Raaka’ Set To Change Rashmika’s Image?
The buzz is in her next film with Allu Arjun, she will be playing a dark, layered role — something she has rarely explored in her career

Rashmika Mandanna, who has built her career with glamorous roles and emotionally driven performances, may be heading for a major image makeover. If industry reports are to be believed, the actress could be seen in a negative-shaded role in her upcoming film Raaka, starring Allu Arjun and directed by Atlee.
Rashmika is expected to join the film’s latest shooting schedule this week alongside Allu Arjun. However, the bigger talking point is not just her entry into the project but the character she is reportedly set to portray.
According to industry buzz, Atlee has designed Rashmika’s role with unexpected twists, making it one of the most talked-about characters in the film. While the makers have not officially confirmed details, reports suggest that the actress will be seen in a dark, layered role — something she has rarely explored in her career.
“I have no clue about her role in Raaka, but if she is indeed playing a dark-shaded character, it will be a completely new challenge for her,” says producer Lagadapati Sridhar. “Audiences have loved Rashmika for her glamorous screen presence and emotionally driven performances. If these reports are true, this role could redefine how she is perceived as an actress.”
The Allu Arjun-Rashmika combination has already delivered two major blockbusters with Pushpa and Pushpa 2. This time, however, instead of playing a romantic pair, the duo is expected to share a different on-screen equation, adding to the curiosity around the project.
Sridhar believes Rashmika has successfully balanced glamour with performance-driven roles. “She has mastered the art of portraying characters like the quintessential wife opposite stars such as Allu Arjun in Pushpa, Ranbir Kapoor in Animal, and Vicky Kaushal in Chhaava. She effortlessly moves between glamorous roles and traditional characters, bringing her own style and charm to each performance,” he says.
The producer also feels Rashmika is emerging as one of India’s prominent multilingual stars. “She may become more selective about Telugu films, choosing strong star-driven projects while expanding her presence in Bollywood. With her acting ability, screen presence and dancing skills, she has the potential to compete with leading actresses across industries,” he adds.
