Iranian embassy shares Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari clip to counter Trump’s UNGA warning, but mixes up Bollywood and Tollywood
In a bizarre turn of digital diplomacy, Iran has used Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna to troll US President Donald Trump following his remarks at the United Nations General Assembly.
According to global reports, the Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe shared a 58-second action clip from the 2023 film Bhagavanth Kesari on X, in response to Trump’s warning that the United States could “annihilate” Iran if regional tensions escalated.
The clip shows Balakrishna single-handedly taking down a heavily armed squad using a manhole cover as a shield. It was posted with the caption: “Trump talks about annihilating Iran. But he knows Iran is not defenseless.”
In a sarcastic jibe, the embassy claimed the Trump administration had abandoned Hollywood and was “recently watching Bollywood.”
Netizens were quick to point out the gaffe. While the post referred to “Bollywood” (Hindi cinema), the clip is from a Telugu-language film!
