‘I Can’t Wait To Collaborate With Her Again’

Says Rahul Ravindran about ‘The Girlfriend’ Rashmika

Rashmika Mandanna is teaming up with talented actor Dheekshith Shetty for the upcoming romantic drama The Girlfriend.

Directed by actor-filmmaker Rahul Ravindran, this promising love story has already generated good buzz among audiences.

Calling Rashmika a thorough professional, Rahul says, “I had already heard from others that she had a fantastic work ethic. She’s a thorough professional and incredibly hardworking, so I knew to expect that. But what I didn’t anticipate was the incredible luminosity she brought to the role and the sheer depth of her performance. Watching it all unfold was truly heartwarming.”

Rashmika has reportedly worked hard to portray the character to perfection. “I can’t wait for everyone to see what she’s done in the film. I’m just so proud of her. But beyond the performance, what I hadn’t expected was the beautiful friendship that blossomed. She’s become a very dear friend, and I know this bond we’ve built while working on the film will last a lifetime. I’ll always treasure this experience, and I can’t wait to collaborate with her again,” says Rahul.

It may be recalled that, Rashmika had penned an emotional note for Rahul recently, “You are tooooo precious my friend.. I still can’t believe you’ve made a film like ‘The Girlfriend’... The emotional depth you have, the niceness that you have in your heart flows through every frame.”

Jointly produced by Geetha Arts and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment, and presented by producer Allu Aravind, The Girlfriend is one of the most awaited projects in Rashmika’s career, and fans are eager to see how this new chapter unfolds.

And not just her — Deekshit and Rashmika both gave this film their heart and soul. “They were completely committed and an absolute pleasure to work with. Most of the film rests on their shoulders, and their chemistry in those scenes is something special,” says Rahul.

‘Tough task ahead’

However, being Rashmika’s first author-backed project in Telugu, the film comes with its own set of challenges. A noted director, speaking on condition of anonymity, shared, “Rashmika has a big challenge on hand. She has to pull crowds purely on the strength of her name, which is a tough task given the generally lukewarm reception for women-oriented movies in Tollywood.”
