At 77, Hema Malini continues to hold audiences in thrall, as the fierce Goddess Durga! The evergreen dream girl transformed into Mata Parvati and the fierce Goddess Durga for her dance ballet Durga at Hyderabad’s Navratri celebrations on October 11, leaving audiences spellbound with her grace, elegance and energy.

The legendary actor-politician captivated the audience with her timeless elegance and graceful classical dance movements, reaffirming her enduring dedication to the art form. The ballet saw her seamlessly transition from the serene Mata Parvati to the fierce Goddess Durga, who slays the demon Mahishasura.

The performance was a highlight of the Navratri celebrations, drawing appreciation from art connoisseurs, fans and cultural enthusiasts.

The veteran actor’s command over the classical choreography and the energy she brought to the intense tandav sequences impressed audiences.

Speaking about her Hyderabad experience, she says, “It is an annual tradition. Every year during Dussehra, I stage my ballet in various cities. The Hyderabad experience this year was memorable in its own right. The people here are so culturally informed. Classical arts come naturally to them. I was happy to have such an attentive audience.”

Asked about portraying the timeless goddesses on stage at 77, Hema Malini laughs. “I’ve never been conscious of my looks. Even in my heydays, I never looked at myself and gasped, ‘My God, what a beauty.’ Only recently did I begin watching my old films and find myself wondering, ‘Who is that pretty girl on screen?’”

So, what is the secret to Hema Malini’s ageless beauty?“A disciplined lifestyle. Eating and sleeping on time. No late nights. Eat everything, but in moderation. Most importantly, think positive thoughts. Do not surround yourself with negative people,” she says.
