Has Ranveer Exited Farhan Akthar’s Don 3?

There’s intense speculation that Ranveer Singh has stepped away from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. An insider noted that Ranveer has been reassessing his choices after the success of Dhurandhar.

The speculation follows pressure from fans to brink back Shah Rukh Khan as Don.“The first look of Don 3 was released in 2023, and there was an uproar among fans over the change of guard,” says a well-known trade analyst, adding that Ranveer is well aware of the situation, and that stepping into SRK’s shoes would not be easy. Amitabh Bachchan immortalised Don, and SRK’s remakes were hits, but he exited Don 3 over creative differences. Ranveer was announced as the new Don. Delays suggest uncertainty about Ranveer’s casting. Meanwhile, he will soon begin work on the zombie film Pralay.

Amitabh Bachchan immortalised the Don character in the 1978 hit. The 2007 remake headlined by Shah Rukh Khan met with favourable response, and was followed by a sequel in 2011. Owing to creative differences, Shah Rukh Khan stepped away from Don 3. In 2023, the makers announced Ranveer Singh as the new Don, with Kiara Advani as the female lead. Kiara exited the project in 2024 and was said to be replaced by Kriti Sanon, but she didn’t confirm the news.

Perhaps the makers are themselves unsure about Ranveer’s casting – the delays dogging the project may be an indication of that uncertainty. There appears to be little talk about Don 3 progressing at the moment.

Meanwhile, Ranveer is about to begin work on Pralay, the zombie film.
