‘Hanuman Ansh’ Crashes in Telugu States
Despite reportedly grossing over `400 crore in the Hindi market, the Telugu-dubbed version struggles to cross Rs 3 crore in AP and Telangana

Hindi blockbuster Hanuman Ansh has failed to recreate its magic at the Telugu box office, despite a wide release across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Released in over 700 screens in the two Telugu states, the Telugu-dubbed version has reportedly collected below Rs 2 crore so far, according to a distributor. With around Rs 12 crore to recover in the Telugu market, the film has a long way to go to emerge as a commercially viable venture.
“No doubt, it is one of the most revered Hindi films, but releasing the Telugu version after 45 days was a bit late,” says producer Abhishek Agarwal, who believes that a significant section of the Hyderabad audience had already watched the original Hindi version.
“I think the occupancy for the Hindi version in Hyderabad was the fourth or fifth highest in India,” he adds.
However, he acknowledges that dubbing, translating songs and completing censor formalities can take more than a month. “We cannot blame the producers for arriving a little late. Everyone has their own strategy and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t,” he points out.
The film has reportedly grossed over Rs 400 crore at the Hindi box office. “It is no mean achievement. I hope other directors learn a lesson or two from this blockbuster,” he adds.
Despite its phenomenal Hindi run, Hanuman Ansh has failed to replicate the success in Telugu, underlining how box-office fortunes can take unexpected turns.
