Dhanush To Romance Sreeleela in His Next
Kollywood’s current shortage of leading actresses opens opportunities for fresh faces
After sharing screen space with Telugu actress Rashmika Mandanna in Kubera, National Award-winning actor Dhanush is reportedly set to romance another Telugu actress, Sreeleela, in his upcoming Tamil film directed by Rajkumar Periyaswamy.
Sreeleela, who made her Kollywood debut with Parashakti, has been attracting several offers. “She is also doing a film with Tamil star Pradeep Ranganathan and is clearly in demand,” says a source, noting that the Tamil film industry is currently facing a shortage of leading actresses. “Sreeleela has entered Tamil cinema at the right time and is expected to carve a strong space for herself.”
Director Rajkumar Periyaswamy, known for drawing a standout performance from Sai Pallavi in Amaran, is said to have crafted a substantial role for Sreeleela. “This film will give her a chance to showcase her acting skills and move beyond the ‘dancing girl’ image,” adds the source. Matching performances with an actor of Dhanush’s calibre is expected to be a fresh and exciting challenge.
Sreeleela gained fame in Tollywood with hits like Dhamaka and Guntur Kaaram, and won praise for her role in Bhagavanth Kesari. However, setbacks with films like Skanda and Extra Ordinary Man reportedly impacted her momentum, prompting her shift to Tamil cinema.
