Deepika Walks Out of ‘Spirit’
Actor and makers fail to see eye-to-eye on terms and conditions. The latter felt her behaviour was untoward

Deepika Padukone has walked out of Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s Spirit. The news comes days after reports confirmed that the actress had joined the project, and had been given a whopping Rs 20 crore pay-package.
However, according to sources close to the production, Deepika and Vanga Reddy had a major falling out, and the actor is no longer part of the cop thriller. The director was taken aback by what the sources describe as Deepika’s unprofessional demands. “Sandeep Reddy Vanga got the shock of his life when Deepika Padukone refused to shoot for more than six hours a day for Spirit. That’s not all, the actress, via her agency, also wanted an amendment to the contract, saying that if the shoot extends beyond 100 days, Deepika would have to be paid extra for every additional day of filming.”
Apparently, the actress and her team would not agree to a compromise, though the makers tried to find a middle ground. “Vanga was unable to meet the demands, and requested Deepika to exit. They are now looking at recasting,” said the sources. It is claimed that Deepika was charging Rs 40 crore for the film. Vanga Reddy is now looking to cast someone at a lower cost, opposite Prabhas. The film is scheduled to go on the floors this October.
