Clearing Common Misconceptions

Certain positions can strain nerves or veins, leading to pain during sex.

Q I am a 25-year-old sexually active man. Whenever I have sex, I get pain in my right leg. It lasts for 15 minutes after ejaculation. I have no other disease. What can I do to recover from this problem?

It may be due to your coital posture. Your leg may be put under strain in certain postures. This may compress the nerve roots and cause the pain. Or you may have varicose veins in the leg, which will be under pressure due to the muscular contractions during intercourse. You need to consult a doctor in person for a proper assessment.

Q Sir, I am a 26-year-old married woman. For the last 6 months I have been trying to conceive. My husband withdraws his penis immediately after ejaculation, and semen leaks out every time we have intercourse. My husband says semen will be getting into the vagina before he withdraws. Is that correct? How much time is needed for this? Please advise.

A large portion of the semen will seep out of the vagina when a man withdraws after ejaculation. This is usual. The sperm are the most important constituent of the semen, and if they are healthy, they will swim up the vaginal passage and try to enter the uterus via the cervix (the mouth of the womb).

I suggest that you continue to lie on your back for about 20 minutes after your husband ejaculates inside you. This is to help the sperm to travel to the cervix easily and quickly. Also, ask your husband to get his semen analyzed in a clinical laboratory to check whether the sperm are healthy or not.
