Chaos at Mall Puts Shahid-Rashmika-Kriti at Risk
Eyewitnesses say security collapsed as fans mobbed stars during Cocktail 2 promo
Rashmika Mandanna, Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor were left vulnerable on Friday after crowds breached security at a Cocktail 2 musical event at Phoenix Market City mall, Pune.
Midway through the promotions, fans broke past barriers, exposing the trio to surging crowds. An eyewitness said Shahid Kapoor’s clothes were torn as he tried to push back “fans”.
Kriti Sanon was seen shielding Rashmika Mandanna with her arms, attempting to escort both to safety. “Anything could have happened. Why was the security so weak? Where were the guards while the stars were being jostled? Rashmika and Kriti were especially compromised,” said a source present at the event.
The source also questioned the need to risk stars for promotions.“Imtiaz Ali and his actors went everywhere to promote Main Vaapas Aunga. Did it get audiences into theatres?”
However, a section of cynics believes such catastrophes at media events are sometimes staged for publicity. “Not that this trio needs gimmicks. They’re getting enough attention without trying,” the source added.
