Celebs Hail Pradhan’s Resignation
From celebratory emojis to memes and heartfelt messages, film personalities welcomed the development as a victory for students
Soon after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned amid the NEET paper leak row, several Bollywood celebrities flooded social media with messages celebrating what many described as a victory for students.
Kamal Haasan wrote on X, “Glad to see dialogue replacing confrontation. Dissent deserves dialogue. This is democracy in action. Pellet guns, electric shock batons and nail-studded lathis have no place in the land of Bapu. Equally, attacks on security personnel and public property must be examined fairly. Accountability cannot be selective (sic).”
Actor Priyanka Chopra reacted by sharing a news report on her Instagram Stories with applause, celebration and red heart emojis.
The same post drew enthusiastic responses from Prajakta Kohli, who commented, “Big Big Big Winn!!!”, while Malaika Arora, Diana Penty, Shibani Akhtar and Tisca Chopra joined in with
congratulatory emojis.
The post was also liked by Alia Bhatt, Triptii Dimri, Sonam Kapoor and Varun Dhawan.
Sonakshi Sinha shared the news on her Instagram Stories with clapping emojis before reposting a video from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) featuring founder Abhijeet Dipke’s reaction to the resignation. She captioned it, “Bhaiiii kya kar diyaaaa?!?!?.”
Director Zoya Akhtar while praising Gen Z on Instagram, wrote, “What a reminder this has been...Gen Z - Only...- Only (sic).” She added a quote, which read, “Democracy is a system of government where power belongs to the people (sic).”
Actor Saba Azad posted, “Chaatr ekta zindabad!!!”, while Swara Bhasker called it a “Huge victory for students.” Actor Parvathy Thiruvothu shared a screenshot of Pradhan's resignation letter and wrote, “Resigned!!!!”
Vijay Varma reacted with a tongue-in-cheek post, sharing a picture of Pradhan alongside the caption with lyrics from Channa Mereya: “Accha chalta hoon.. duaaon mein yaad rakhna.”
Vaani Kapoor acknowledged the perseverance of the students at the heart of the protests, writing, “For every student who kept pushing, kept questioning, and kept hoping.. this moment is for you.”
