CBFC Tightens Rules
Alterations or cuts made after Board clearance can attract penalty

Central Board of Film Certification. (DC)
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has updated Rule 33 of the Cinematograph Certification Rules, effectively barring filmmakers from making any post-certification modifications, cuts or additions to their films.
The Rule 33 revision removes a safety net for filmmakers. No last-minute trims, rearrangements, or added scenes are allowed once certified.
Also, late-stage subtitles could be appended thus far. Industry sources say Rule 33’s wording hasn’t changed, but its application has. The Ministry and CBFC now require only the locked final version for certification. Screening any altered cut without clearance violates the Act and risks penalties or revoked certificates.
