From 18 seconds to 9 — War 2’s bikini moment gets a quick dip in the censor pool

Yash Raj Films has never shied away from showcasing its leading ladies in bikinis — from Sonam in Vijay (1988) to Deepika Padukone in Pathaan. But in War 2, that decades-old streak has been cut short — quite literally.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has ordered a 50% reduction in Kiara Advani’s bikini sequence. The shot, originally running 18 seconds, is now down to just 9. A close friend of Kiara and husband Siddharth Malhotra scoffs, “So 18 seconds corrupts the nation, but 9 seconds doesn’t?”
Kiara’s sequence was filmed before her pregnancy, following a strict diet and workout plan to achieve the desired look. Incidentally, Deepika Padukone’s swimsuit shots faced similar trimming from the CBFC in the past.
