Group cites music over labels in unified statement
BTS will not pursue Grammy recognition in 2027, the group confirmed. In identical Instagram posts, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook stated: “No Grammy submissions from us this year. We believe music should unite, not be split by region or language. Our gratitude to ARMY and all who stand with us.”
The announcement comes just over a month after the Grammys were criticised for introducing a new award category exclusively for Asian Pop Music Performance. The Recording Academy described it as a recognition of artistic excellence in Asian pop music performances originating from, or widely recognised within, Asian markets.
BTS’s decision to sit out the awards has been welcomed by many fans. The group, which made a super comeback earlier this year, has not only sold out stadiums around the world but has also been among the most influential musical acts of 2026.
Going into next year’s ceremony, many expected BTS might finally secure their first Grammy win.
After BTS went public, HYBE distanced itself calling it the group’s personal move, not a company stance or one shared by its other artists.
