Sunny Deol is reportedly miffed with Aamir Khan over the lost chance, given the film’s poor reception in theatres
Batwara 1947 has tanked at the box office, leaving its producer Aamir Khan with losses reportedly amounting to nearly Rs 90 crore.
No OTT deal was struck before the film’s release, though a leading platform had offered Rs 125 crores for the rights. Now, given the film’s box-office disaster, no OTT platform is willing to touch it.
Sunny Deol, who had urged Aamir to accept the OTT deal before Batwara released, as he too would have benefitted financially, is reportedly very upset at the present situation.
However, he is typically reticent about the issue: “There is no point in discussing this. All I can say is, I am very proud of Batwara, and always will be. The box office doesn’t decide the quality of a film. The best film of my father’s career was Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Satyakam. And it was a massive flop. I am confident Batwara will get its due in time.”
