Sunny Deol on missing out on a National Award

There was strong buzz that Sunny Deol would win the National award for his performance in Gadar 2. But that was not meant to be. Sunny isn’t on the regret mode though. “Awards and I have never been best of friends. Whether it is Gadar, Ghatak or Border, they’ve all gone unrecognized. I did get a special jury’s award for Ghayal. But I think I was equally good in Ghatak. I have been nominated for awards many times. But won very few.”
Sunny has no regrets. “My Dad (Dharmendra) who is one of the best actors of Indian cinema, was ignored for awards for even his finest performances like Satyakam, Anupama and Chupke Chupke. When he could be treated this way, who am I in front of him?”
Sunny is very pleased with the way his career is going. “I am doing the work that I like, and that is the best award and reward. I recently worked in Gopichand Malineni’s Jaat, produced by Mythri Movie Makers. They are such professional people,punctual disciplined and hardworking. I would like to do more film in the South.”
