The actor has been signed for a significant new role in the sequel and will not be replacing Deepika Padukone’s character
Despite recent online trolling and mixed reactions to the teaser of her upcoming film Alpha, Alia Bhatt’s professional graph continues to soar. The actor has reportedly been signed for a major role in the sequel to Nag Ashwin’s blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD. The film is already deep into production, with Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan currently participating in an extensive shooting schedule in Hyderabad.
According to sources, Alia is expected to join the shoot next month. A source close to the actor clarifies that Alia is not replacing Deepika Padukone in the sequel. “That role is being played by Sai Pallavi. Alia Bhatt has been signed for an entirely new character,” the source says.
The role is said to be action-heavy and will require Alia to perform extensive stunt sequences. “She will be required to do a lot of physical stunts, something she is already adept at after Alpha,” the source adds.
Meanwhile, Alia is also awaiting the release of Alpha and is currently filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, a project that industry insiders believe could feature one of the strongest performances of her career.
