After 2 Flops, Yashraj May Release Alia’s Film on OTT
After War 2 and Mardaani 3 flopped, the actress’s entry into YRF’s Spy Universe via Alpha is in jeopardy
After the massive failure of War 2, YRF was counting on their in-house heroine Rani Mukerji to revive the banner’s floundering glory. However, Mardaani 3 proved a damp squib at the boxoffice despite the hype and Rani breaking Yash Raj’s no-publicity tradition to do a string of interviews. Now the hardest hit is Alia Bhatt, whose entry into YRF’s Spy Universe with Alpha is jeopardized.
A source close to the development informs, “Aditya Chopra had hoped that the female-hero genre would get a boost with Mardaani, so that Alpha could be projected as Alia’s Shero film. But with Mardaani 3 underperforming and the Spy Universe taking a beating with War 2, Alpha is now a suspended project at Yashraj.”
Alpha is now likely to head straight to OTT, despite Alia’s strong protests against the move.
