Aamir To Play Cricket Legend Lala Amarnath
Actor reunites with Ashutosh Gowariker for a biopic on India’s first Test centurion

Aamir Khan is finally set to headline a biopic after years of turning down real life stories. The actor will reportedly play legendary cricketer Lala Amarnath in a film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
Lala Amarnath is regarded as one of the founding figures of Indian cricket. He scored India’s first ever Test century in 1933 and later became Independent India’s first cricket captain, leading the team to its first Test series victory against Pakistan in 1952.
Interestingly, the project reunites Aamir and Gowariker years after their acclaimed cricket drama Lagaan. Over the years, Aamir had reportedly turned down several biopics, including one on music baron Gulshan Kumar, while a proposed film on Dadasaheb Phalke did not move forward due to script issues.
